American Eskimo

We have raised American Eskimos for over 20 years. Eskies have been a part of my life virtually since the day I was born.

When I was very young we always had one American Eskimo girl named Tiny. We would occasionally get a stud mail for her and have puppies.

I really enjoyed that and when my parents decided to quit breeding her they allowed me to keep two of her puppies and they bought me my first male for Christmas all the way back in 96. And that was just the beginning of having American Eskimos ever since.

The American Eskimo is a beautiful mid-sized white dog who has been in the United States for more than 100 years. They sometimes are also referred to as Spitz, Eskie Spitz or American Spitz.

American Eskimos make a very good watchdog as they are very alert to strangers coming on to property. They are not known to be aggressive but are very good about alerting you when strangers approach your property.

Typically once they know whoever is coming on your property is friendly  with their owners they can warm up to them quickly.

American Eskimos are very affectionate and loving. If you are sitting on the couch they are going to be the dog that is wanting to be right next to you with their head resting on your thigh.

They typically train very easily and typically rank among the top scorers in obedience classes.

American Eskimos are now recognized into three different size standards.
